On the 2 September 2009 Ryde High School and Mayfield Middle School were awarded the prestigious International School Award in recognition of bringing the wider world into the schoolroom.

The Languages Department at Ryde High School ran language taster sessions with pupils from Bishop Lovett and Swanmore Middle Schools on the 18 and 25 September 2009.

Ryde High School enjoyed a very successful carnival season, participating in the Ryde Festival Parade, Sandown Main Carnival and coming 1st in Ryde Illuminated Carnival.
